Our Purpose

Worship

Remembering God’s mighty acts in the past, celebrating His abiding presence, and moving towards His promised fulfillment, we gather to:

  • listen to the Word of God in Scripture and preaching;
  • receive the Sacraments;
  • respond with confession, prayer, praise, thanksgiving, and with tithes and offerings.

We do this in order to:

  • acknowledge God’s rule over our lives;
  • recognize our own unity as Christ’s body on earth;
  • express our relationship with God in public and in private.

Learning

We help people grow in grace and faith through knowledge of the Scriptures and familiarity with the Lutheran Confessions so that they may be salt and light in the world. Relying on the Holy Spirit, we proclaim the Gospel by word and deed and invite all people to repent and believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

Witness

We endeavor to be witnesses of our faith at every opportunity in daily life so that the Lord will be glorified, the fellowship of believers will be strengthened, those who have fallen away are encouraged to return and new members are welcomed into the body of Christ.

Service

We live by faith active in love, ministering to others in our every day actions. We seek to promote justice and reconciliation, meet human needs and alleviate suffering. In these efforts we co-operate with other Christian churches,

“Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

“Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

Luke 2:14,10-11 NKJV

“Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death– even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

– Philippians 2:5-11 NIV
